Job Stories From Marion, NY
Energy Efficient Lighting Upgrade, Marion

A manufacturing company contacted our office and expressed their interest in having their lighting upgraded to something more energy efficient. At the time they contacted us, they had high bay light fixtures with HID lamps which are not very energy efficient and actually contain toxic material on the inside. With HID lighting, a higher voltage is required as the light heats up and as the light ages which causes the lights to fade over time. There is also a warm-up/cool down period when the lights are turned on and off.

Our team installed new LED commercial grade high bay fixtures designed specifically for warehouses like the one our team was working in. These lights offer high efficiency and a much longer life span than the old HID lighting, and illuminate instantly at full brightness. With a decrease in wattage by 250 watts per fixture, this company is saving money as each fixture burns every day for about 16-20 hours throughout 2 shifts of employees hard at work. These new LED fixtures will far out perform the old HID lighting and everyone within the company is pleased to see the difference in illumination, while knowing they are saving money and being more energy efficient.

Upgraded Panel Box Service for Marion, NY Homeowner

A Marion homeowner reached out to Marlock Electric, Inc., from another customer referral, as she was having issues with her electric flickering and tripping breakers. Our Project Estimator made a convenient time to meet with Denny F to look over her electric issues and was able to show her where her panel box had been getting wet and was now rotted out and in much need of replacement.

While the Estimator was on site she was also concerned about other outlets and electrical items, and we were able to show her where they were not up to code and helped her in getting the other items up to code as well, keeping a fire hazard at bay.

We repaired her panel box and upgraded it to meet code adding new breakers separating over-loaded circuits, installing a new service entrance cable that was worn right through to the exposed wire, new GFCI protected outlets in the bathroom and kitchen as well as adding a dedicated circuit for her refrigerator and a new 240v dryer line.

The work performed allowed a safe electrical system for this Marion homeowner.

Looking to upgrade our service box to start. I believe it's a 60amp breaker box now and think we want to go to 200. House was built in 1890s and has knob/tube wiring still live, would like to have some estimates on rewiring work as well.
