New Electrical Service Upgrade

New Electrical Service Upgrade New Electrical Service Upgrade

This customer was having their house sided and the contractor noticed some severe aging on the electric service cable. They then reached out to us for our professional opinion as to whether it should be replaced or not. As you can see from the before photo the outer sheathing of the cable was in rough shape. We installed a brand new 100 amp electrical service with new panel box, breakers and new grounding. Now the new siding will look that much better when complete.

Exterior Lighting Issues at Commercial Building in Geneva, NY

Ironically several exterior lights were not working at a commercial building in Geneva, NY in a very short period of time. Our technicians were called out to service these lights as an emergent situation. The lights provided a clear path and safety in the parking lot area to the patrons who came to this busy medical office, employment facility and assemblyman's office space.

After troubleshooting each faulty light it was determined that each had a different issue and was not a major electric repair.

Found were a photo eye that was faulty, a light that had blown as well as a defective ballast that needed to be replaced.  We replaced the photo eye sensor, installed a new and more energy efficient bulb as well as a new ballast.

The repairs were complete and the customers as well as the building residents and owner were very pleased with the professionalism and troubleshooting skills of our technician.

Local college in Geneva, NY expanding emergency electric power

Recently completed, is this commercial project in Geneva, NY for a local college. The college had a smaller back up generator system in case of power outages, but were looking to expand the amount of electricity they could provide to both their students as well as staff.

Marlock Electric was able to expand into further areas of the school with the generator system by installing new panels and transformers to allow more of the campus to be up and illuminated in the event of a power outage. The picture illustrated is the new panels installed as well as the transfer switch that allowed the campus to have the upgraded emergency electric power they needed.

Our outstanding technicians did an amazing job giving this college the newest upgrade of additional emergency electric power.

They were unsure and looked to us as professionals to install the line to the existing panel box as well as installing a (4) prong dryer outlet and testing out.

Service upgrade for Farmington, NY homeowner

Our office received a message that a Farmington, NY homeowner was concerned about their electric service as well as the safety of their home. Our salesman was able to come in and assess the needs of the house. It was determined that the age of the home would require a new 100 amp service and breakers, new entrance cable from the meter to the panel as well as all necessary grounding for safety and bring up to code. We upgraded the existing receptacles in the basement to GFCI's also to bring up to code. New switches, outlets and carbon monoxide as well as smoke detectors were installed per code. The exterior had a new entry coach light and we made corrections to the garage lighting  both interior as well as exterior as they were mis-wired inside the panel box. Many of these projects are needed in most homes that are dated.

It is important that if your home is dated that you have a licensed electrical contractor do a walk through with you to determine the safety of your wiring system. One of the most important items that we did was install was hard-wired carbon monoxide detectors and smoke detectors with battery back up. This is so important in case of an accidental fire.

If its been some time since you've had an electrical inspection and your home is older, we suggest you consider making an appointment today. We would be happy to give you a thorough inspection that will bring your electric up to code, add energy savings and give you peace of mind.

Punch list for homeowner in Naples, NY

A homeowner in Naples, NY was needing additional circuits run to his sub panel to accommodate additional electric items he would be using. We realize that most older homes are not as equipped to accommodate the needs of today's automated world. Most of the time the panels are outdated and even sometimes can be a fire hazard with some of the old type fuse boxes.

With this Naples, NY homeowner we found that they had a secondary box called a sub panel that had not been installed correctly and was not up to code. This sub panel was installed due to the fact that the panel box was full and could not hold any more circuits. Our technician pulled (6) new circuits from the sub panel to the main panel and changed out old single breakers in the sub panel with new ones. These new circuits will help the customer with the much needed electric outlets needed to run their every day equipment such as computers, televisions, etc.

While on site we were also asked to troubleshoot some older electric that was keeping their switches for the fan. We also found old and faulty wiring that was repaired, as well as a breaker that was needing to be replaced for the kitchen outlets.

It is important to be sure your electric wiring is safe. If you feel as though your electric is not up to code, please feel free to contact our office and we will be most happy to go over the service to be certain your home is safe and sound.

Your peace of mind and estimate will be FREE! Call us today for your free estimate.

Bristol Field House Dome Project

Marlock Electric was proud to be part of this 83,000 sq ft multi-purpose indoor inflattable fieldhouse. This inflattable dome houses an artificial turf playing field that converts to five tennis or basketball courts.

This project consisted of installing an 800 amp 480v electrical service which provides power to the dome to keep it inflated as well as power for the HVAC equipment, lighting and receptacles. Should there ever be an interuption of power the dome is protected by an 80kw automatic standby generator which will assure the dome keeps inflated.

This project involved running numerous amounts of underground conduits throughout the playing field to distribute power, data and fire alarm throughout the building.

This customer experienced a power outage recently due to a winter storm. During this outage her house temperature dropped to 49 degrees. Never again will she have to worry about loosing power with this new Generac automatic standby generator. With this install we felt that it was best to place the unit in the rear of the house. With that came much more work to get the conduits and gas line installed but it was well worth it for the aesthetics.

Sizzling sound in electrical panel

Our office was called to investigate what was explained as the sound of sizzling coming from an electrical panel. Upon investigation we noticed the insulation was melted on one of the conductors feeding the panel. This was the result of a loose lug which resulted in arcing as well as creating an excess of heat. The heat caused damage not only to the conductor but to the interior of the panel as well. We were able to repair the conductor as well as replaced the panel interior with minimal downtime to the customers facility.
